Description: Dental Claims Specialist – Full-Time
Seguin Smiles is looking for a knowledgeable, organized, and motivated Dental Claims Specialist to join our TEAM!
We are an out-of-network dental practice, so this position plays an important role in helping our patients understand and utilize their dental insurance benefits while ensuring claims are submitted accurately and followed through to payment.
The ideal candidate has strong dental insurance knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and is comfortable communicating with both insurance companies and patients. Previous dental insurance/claims experience is preferred, and experience working in an out-of-network dental practice is a plus.
Position & Office Hours
This is a full-time position.
Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Responsibilities Include:
• Submit dental insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
• Review claims for correct CDT codes, documentation, narratives, and attachments
• Track outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies
• Research and resolve denied, delayed, or underpaid claims
• Submit appeals, corrected claims, and additional documentation when necessary
• Review EOBs and insurance payments for accuracy
• Post and reconcile insurance payments
• Verify insurance benefits and understand plan limitations, frequencies, deductibles, maximums, and exclusions
• Understand out-of-network dental benefits and reimbursement
• Help patients understand their estimated insurance benefits and financial responsibility
• Communicate professionally with patients regarding insurance questions and outstanding balances
• Work closely with our clinical and business TEAM to obtain documentation needed for claims and appeals
• Maintain accurate notes regarding claim status and insurance communications
• Identify recurring insurance issues and help improve our claims processes
• Track insurance claim payments and accurately update payment information in the Eaglesoft Coverage Book.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
• Has previous dental insurance and claims experience
• Understands dental terminology and CDT codes
• Has experience with claim submission, appeals, denials, EOBs, and insurance follow-up
• Is comfortable working in an out-of-network environment
• Is detail-oriented and takes ownership of outstanding claims
• Has strong written and verbal communication skills
• Can confidently communicate with insurance companies and advocate for proper claim processing
• Is organized and able to manage multiple claims and deadlines
• Has a positive attitude and works well as part of a TEAM
• Provides excellent customer service when helping patients navigate their insurance benefits

As an out-of-network dental practice, we are not contracted with dental insurance companies, which allows our TEAM to focus on recommending treatment based on what is best for each individual patient. Although we are out of network, we work hard to help our patients understand and maximize their dental insurance benefits, submit claims on their behalf, and navigate the insurance process as smoothly as possible.
